Who is the fund for ?
Windows of Hope Family Relief Fund is a 501(c)3 charitable organization which was formed to provide aid, future scholarships and funds to the families of the victims of the World Trade Center tragedy who were lost on September 11th and who worked in the food, beverage and hospitality professions throughout the entire complex.

We have to date identified 125 families with some 150 dependant children, in our ongoing effort to identify eligible families.

When will Windows of Hope disperse money to the families ?
To date each family has received three direct cash distributions plus emergency monies distributed on an "as needed basis". Windows of Hope will also pay health insurance (COBRA) for each family for 5 years to ensure all families of continuous health coverage.

With the support and participation from thousands of individuals and various organizations, Windows of Hope has raised more than $19 million. Windows of Hope has identified and is assisting 125 eligible families with some 150 plus dependant children.

What is The Fund doing additionally to help the families ?
Through a generous donation, Windows of Hope is able to utilize the services of professional caseworkers, which will meet with all of the families and identify individual family needs. Caseworkers will help assist W O H in the selection and design of programs to assist the victim's families.

Programs available to the families include English as a second language instruction, job training, job re-training, legal services, financial counseling and grief counseling.

How is Windows of Hope dispersing the money ?
To assist in the distribution of The Fund, Windows of Hope has entered into an agreement with Community Service Society of New York that has been assisting the residents on NYC for over 150 years. CSS will provide the mechanism to assess individual needs and facilitate direct assistance to Windows of Hope Families. (See www.cssny.org )

CSS Caseworkers continue to meet with each of the families to identify their individual needs and produce case profiles for each family. The caseworkers will then assist W O H in the design and implementation of future programs to assist the victims families. CSS will also assist in the distribution of funds.

What are the administrative costs ?
It is our intention to minimize administration costs. Currently administrative costs for the Fund are running at an annualized rate of less than 1% of funds raised.

Is Windows of Hope still taking donations ?
Windows of Hope sees it mission as long term particularly as it relates to the young children who lost parents on September 11. As such we will continue to solicit and accept support now and in the future.
